current conditions...

smoke, ash, and feathers

today's sun and a view of buckingham mountain through the smoky haze

the front yard is a mix of molted duck feathers, bits of burnt vegetation, and ash

ash on muskmelon leaves

i don't mean for it to seem all doom and gloom.  it isn't.  amidst the smoke and ash and heat i find myself in a heartbreakingly beautiful existence with wonderful companions and i'm grateful that we are safe and well.

someone reminding me not to take things so seriously

beneath a perpetually setting sun

beneath a perpetually setting sun
time's reference lost in a veil of smoke
circadian rhythm wanders
in a bardo landscape
washed in orange glow
full of echoes of fires terrestrial and celestial

eclipse

shot a bunch of pictures of the eclipse using welding goggles as a filter for the camera lens.
these are my favorites...

sunday morning

got a hint of autumn on the breeze this morning sitting on the patio under the grapes, sipping coffee, while staal grilled some bacon for breakfast.

sharing a few grapes while the bacon cooks

zane quietly "chinning" me and giving me the eye while he waits for some tidbits of bacon

make feathers not eggs

finding fewer eggs and more feathers these days as the lay season winds down and the ducks concentrate their energy on growing new feathers to keep them warm and dry in the cooler days and nights to come.
